#burundian

One aspect that needs correction is that armed groups did not aline with M23 to fight the governement it is the other way. Over 250 armed groups, including Congolese government forces, European mercenaries, #Burundian soldiers, MONUSCO, and #SADC, have aligned to combat #M23. However, it's crucial to understand that M23's fight extends beyond mere insurgency; it's a battle against ethnic cleansing, discrimination, and the fundamental survival of all Kivutians. The Tutsi refugees, victims of past genocides, have been relentlessly pursued by conflict, which has shifted and persisted in Eastern DRC. Yet, the current approach involves empowering MONUSCO, under the auspices of the UN Security Council, to collaborate with various armed factions, including the Genocidaire Group (FDLR) and mercenaries, purportedly to address the region's challenges. However, one must question the logic behind such an alliance. It's akin to pouring gasoline onto a fire, exacerbating rather than alleviating the situation. It's imperative for the Security Council to recognize the folly in this approach and reevaluate its strategy for achieving lasting peace in the region.
