Current situation on Friday morning in Omiš #Croatia: The wildfire is under control, but firefighters still face a long battle to fully contain it. Ten people are in intensive care, including a 17-year-old girl. Seven are fighting for their lives. Prime Minister Plenković in Omiš: “This is one of the worst fires in recent years.” He said the government will help Omiš and Split-Dalmatia County deal with the aftermath of the fire. The Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian National Tourist Board will also assist tourists who were forced to leave their accommodation because of the fire. Some tourists and other evacuees have been accommodated in the sports hall in Omiš and at Gripe in Split. Plenković said efforts would be made to find them alternative accommodation, while also allowing them to return to their original accommodation once safety conditions permit. Firefighters have brought the blaze near Lokva Rogoznica under control after it burned around 900 hectares.
