#Datafy | Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% global oil and LNG flows, came to a halt on February 28 after the US and Israel launched military strikes in Iran. Ship tracking data from MarineTraffic shows oil tankers and cargo vessels concentrated at four places in the Gulf of Oman – at high seas at the entry point of the Strait of Hormuz, and near the ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan in the UAE, and Shinas Port of Oman. #IsraelIranConflict

#Datafy | After days of Iranian-imposed blockade, some limited traffic has started to trickle through the Strait of Hormuz, as per ship tracking sites that use AIS (Automatic Identification System) signals to map the movement of a ship. Experts and watchers, however, say that the AIS-based tracking may not produce an accurate picture of the ship traffic as vessels tend to turn off their AIS transponders while transiting through the strait, which handles nearly 20% of the global energy flows. Analysis claim that shadow tankers are among the ships that are currently transiting through the Strait of Hormuz. As per reports, around several ships of a Greece-based ship operator has also passed through the waterway in the last few days.
