#ShekhawatiSojourn #incredibleindia #padharomharedes #dekhoapnadesh Bharat is such a treasure trove of arts and crafts! On our recent Shekhawati trip, we met the father-son duo of Om Prakash Jangid and Manish Jangid of Churu, fourth generation wood carving artists. While Karnataka is justifiably, known as the capital of sandalwood carving in Bharat, very few people know that there are many artists in distant Shekhawati who have been using the heartwood of sandalwood to create intricate, lattice like carvings. Their specialty is carving within carvings. Tiny windows on a wooden sword open up to show finely carved incidents from Shri Krishna’s life, a wooden Veena opens up to show the Ram Durbar. The Jangids are famous for fine, lace like lattice work and their miniature figures. Many of their creations have even been gifted to heads of state by Narendra Modi ji! You can contact them on
