Crypto is a global movement to shift ownership from authorities to individuals. We’re working with the city of Buenos Aires and Extrimian to build @Quark_ID, an open source protocol, to issue decentralized identifiers (#DIDs) for millions of Argentinian citizens to reclaim their digital rights. Digital identity on the internet is weak. It can be harvested, stolen, and impersonated. We need new ways to maintain privacy in an increasingly digital world. @Quark_ID, Argentina’s new blockchain-based identification initiative, will let citizens claim ownership over their documents, health data, and in the future, manage payment processing. Using the power of 🪄 ZK Magic 🪄 citizens verify their identity without revealing the underlying PII. With zkSync Era as the settlement layer for QuarkID, participating citizens will have full custody of their credentials and strict privacy. Starting in Buenos Aires (population: 15M) with DID, QuarkID will soon expand to new use cases in supply chain, banking, and commerce all across Argentina (population: 45M). In crypto, we talk about “wen real world use cases.” Well. This is it. An urban city government is using an open source digital identity protocol built on a ZK-rollup to help 15 million citizens claim and custody their digital identities.
