One of the big issues today at the #PCUSA #GA227 is Gen 06, which would add LGBTQIA2S+ profiles to churches, enabling potential ministry candidates to see whether churches would be open to hiring queer clergy and whether they should even bother applying. The motion was a huge hit, with the Gender and Sexuality Justice Committee approving it 54-8. Notably, several speakers condemned conservative churches for discriminating against LGBTQ folk and having the audacity to say they wouldn't hire a lesbian or gay dude, all the while lamenting the abuse and harm being excluded causes gay and trans folks. This includes a member of The Advocacy Committee for LGBTQIA+ Equity (ACQ+E), who nearly broke down in tears (seen below)

Woke PCUSA vs Conservative PCUSA Drama! Earlier today, during the #GA227, the PCUSA voted on a new introduction to their Manual to the General Assembly. Part of the new preface reads: 'The Manual of the General Assembly reflects the conviction that faithful discernment requires both openness to the Holy Spirit and a common framework for making decisions together.' REC Bisham Singh sought to add an amendment to that preface to include the words "the scripture," so that it would now read "requires both openness to the scripture, the Holy Spirit, and a common...," This amendment was disavowed by YAAD Bruce Ward, who insisted that "I know for a fact...the words of the bible have been quoted out of context to cause harm and destruction." He later notes that several books of the bible were written after the time of Jesus, and therefore were not thought of as scripture. Thankfully, Jason Polgar, a member of Presbyterians For the Kingdom, Presbyterians for the Kingdom spoke up in favor of the inspiration and authority of the scriptures. However, attendees quickly voted AGAINST the amendment, 331 to 130, and it died on the vine.

"The spirit of Gen 09 is at odds with the Book of Confessions." A rare conservative voice speaks up at the #PCUSA's #ga227, taking them to task for their bid to reopen and "re-examine' church teaching on family, sex, and relationships, where the denomination hopes to adopt, if even possible, a more progressive and radically unbiblical approach. Delegate Lawson Zaring (Bluegrass Presbyterian) points out that "The rationale of Gen 01 and Gen 09 explicitly disparages the confession of 1967, and every commissioner has taken vows to be guided by the confessions."

Unlike the PCA, last night at the #ga227, the #PCUSA voted to DISSAPROVE RUS-02, an overture commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, citing the evil and wicked history of the nation's founding. Speaking against the motion, Oak Arias, a non-binary member of Advocacy Committee for Women and Gender Justice summarized it best:
