This is an exclusive visual glimpse from Kabul, from the heart of Afghanistan, where the Sikh and Hindu community, though small in number, celebrated the birth anniversary of Baba #GuruNanakDevji at Gurdwara Karta Parwan. In these rare scenes, devotees can be seen performing sacred rituals, hoisting the Nishan Sahib, and chanting Satnam Waheguru. When the Taliban came to power in 2021, most members of Afghanistan’s Sikh and Hindu communities had to flee the country facing security threats and fear. Many were rescued and brought to India by the Government of India under Operation Devi Shakti. But today’s images tell a new story, one of cautious hope. Recently, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, during his visit to India, met members of the Sikh/Hindu community in Delhi and assured them of the safety and protection of religious minorities in Afghanistan.
