Representante de Maduro defiende al régimen autoritario de Eritrea ante Consejo DDHH-ONU #HRC56. El mismo cuyas fuerzas armadas cometen violencia sexual sistemática y generalizada en la región de Tigré, incluidas violaciones individuales y colectivas, según Amnistía Internacional. Desde hace 22 años, el régimen de Eritrea mantiene una política de represión basada en detenciones arbitrarias y desapariciones forzadas de periodistas, opositores reales o percibidos y miembros de congregaciones religiosas. El apoyo del gobierno venezolano ocurre durante la presentación del informe del Relator de la ONU sobre Eritrea, quien recuerda que en 2024 el país fue clasificado como el peor del mundo en libertad de prensa, siendo el único en África sin medios privados. En esa misma lista, Venezuela ocupa el puesto 160 y Eritrea el 180. Con esta postura, la Administración de Maduro continúa su campaña contra los mecanismos internacionales de investigación del Consejo de Derechos Humanos, como la Misión de la ONU sobre Venezuela, en perjuicio de víctimas.
