However, as an #Iranian-#American journalist, I wish to present to you a harrowing video from the city of #Fardis, a city where I grew up and where my family still resides. Last night, several of my brave and freedom-seeking fellow citizens in this city were killed by the forces of repression of the Iranian regime. They were killed while pursuing the very freedom that you have publicly praised and encouraged them to seek. You have, on at least two occasions, clearly declared your support and stated that should the Iranian regime engage in the killing of its own citizens, you would respond decisively. Mr. President, history shows that after achieving freedom, nations may forget the words of their enemies, but they never forget the silence of their friends.
