I never had an ounce of respect for Mel Bridgman after this infamous moment in Game 3 of the #Flyers - #Leafs playoff on April. 15, 1976. Yes, #Philadelphia coach Fred Shero encouraged his bullies to take out Borje Salming, thereby easing their path to the next round. But, watch what Bridgman (10) does to the #Toronto defenceman. Such a cowardly act. And, no help at all from Bob Neely, who’d been a terror in Junior with #Peterborough, but was a mouse in the #NHL with the Leafs. It was the most-vicious playoff series of my 17 seasons covering the Leafs for The FAN-590. Scott Oake did interviews on the ice with Alyn McCauley, Gary Roberts, Curtis Joseph and Bryan McCabe. Bob Cole and Harry Neale called the series on #CBC. This #Toronto team had loads of character. If healthy, it could have won the #StanleyCup. Instead , Leafs lost to #Carolina in six games of the Cup semifinals. #LeafsForever
