Speaking to city council members on Tuesday, she noted that government efforts had previously focused on retailers, adding, “Tracing the source of goods remains a critical but neglected issue.” While acknowledging concerns about tax collection systems, the mayor said, “We received strong support for taxation from stakeholders,” while also pointing out challenges such as “unfounded rumors” and “evasion tactics,” including transporting goods at night to avoid inspections. “Paying taxes and issuing receipts are mandatory.
