Surreal buzz in #Srinagar about the #NDTVSonuSrinagarConcert The first #NDTVGoodTimesConcert live event has become much more than a music concert. For the locals, it’s signalling a return to normalcy in the valley after the dastardly Pehalgam terror attack. An invitation to tourists to come back to Kashmir. Looking forward to Sonu tribute to Mohd Rafi on Sunday, Oct 26. Two local stars Qazi Touqeer and Rauhan Malik will be playing at the SKICC venue. Qazi & Touqeer say they have been yearning to play before their home crowds for years and that the #NDTVGoodTimesConcert is a dream come true for them. The music starts at 11 AM this Sunday. The odds seemed insurmountable — boycott calls, assassination threats, social media hounding. But the NDTV team was determined that extremists would not be allowed to win. A big shout-out to the entire #NDTVGoodTimesConcert team for their courage and resolve. Most others would have backed down — this team stood tall. Kudos to Sonu Nigam for refusing to buckle under pressure from the fringe. He lit up the Dal Lake with his energy and unmatched talent. For local lads Qazi Touqeer and Rauhan Malik, this moment was deeply emotional. So many of their past concerts had been cancelled under radical pressure — they feared this one would meet the same fate. Rarely have I seen artists so relieved, and so moved, to perform live — that too before their home crowd, for the first time. Leaving Srinagar with a deep sense of relief, gratitude, and accomplishment. No other place is as simultaneously captivating and frustrating as the Kashmir valley. Next up — the big #NDTVBiharPowerPlay in Patna on November 1. And then, the historic A.R. Rahman concert on the banks of the Ganga at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on Nov 29.
