#Ethiopia between the #Abay (#Nile) River and the #Red_Sea President Taye AtskeSelassie said Ethiopia’s destiny has always been tied to the Abay (Nile) River and the Red Sea, two vital bodies of water from which it has long been isolated in an “unjust and exclusionary manner, without public consultation or participation.” The President made this remark during his address on the government’s annual plan at the joint opening session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) and the House of Federation (HoF) today 6 October 2025. He also said that the topic of Ethiopia’s access to the sea has been elevated to “international discussion topic.” Watch #Ethiopia #Abay #Red_Sea #HornOfAfrica #Diplomacy #Development #Regional_Integration

#Ethiopia: “The dam is on. There are now two big dams on the #Nile - the #GERD and the #Aswan Dam,” Professor John Rao Nyaoro. Professor Nyaoro, former Executive Director of the Nile Basin Initiative (#NBI) and author of ‘Realizing the Water Security of the Nile Basin States’, said this in a comment in the wake of the completion of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). “Now Egypt has got no alternative but to agree to come to the table, cooperate with all the Nile Basin states for equitable and reasonable utilization of the GERD so that they can also benefit,” he told Citizen TV over the weekend.
