War Fatigue and Desertion Within the #Ethiopian Army. After years of relentless conflict, first in #Tigray, then in #Oromia, #Amhara, and other regions the army has been stretched far beyond its limits. Soldiers who once believed they were defending the nation now find themselves questioning the very purpose of their struggle. Many are weary of fighting wars that seem to serve political agendas rather than the protection of the Ethiopian people. The promise of unity and national defense has been replaced by a grim reality of endless campaigns that pit citizens against one another. Desertion is no longer a matter of cowardice it is a symptom of despair. Troops flee not only to avoid capture by Fano fighters, but also to escape a system that offers no clarity, no direction, and no hope. What remains is an institution drained of purpose. The #Ethiopia ~n army’s war fatigue mirrors the exhaustion of the nation itself an exhaustion born from cycles of violence, mismanagement, and political arrogance. As soldiers abandon their posts, they also abandon faith in a government that has turned its own weapons inward.
