During heavy shelling across the #LoC in the early morning of 7th May, a shell fired from Pakistan landed just behind the Christ School in #Poonch. Tragically, the shell hit the home of two students of the Christ School, and both students, unfortunately, lost their lives, and their parents sustained injuries Several priests, nuns, school staff, and local residents took refuge in an underground hall of the school during the shelling by Pakistan. The school was fortunately closed, otherwise more losses would have occurred. Pakistan is targeting and shelling places of worship with a particular design, including Gurdwaras, Convents, and Temples. Braveheart's Family Voluntarily Deposits #MahaVirChakra to Garhwal Rifles of Indian Army During the Indo-Pak War of 1965, Captain CN Singh of Garhwal Rifles, led a daring attack in #Poonch Sector on 5th August 1965. Despite being critically injured, he continued to lead the troops in successfully capturing the enemy post. For his exemplary leadership & conspicuous bravery, he was awarded the #MahaVirChakra (Posthumous). Today on the 60th year of his supreme sacrifice, his brother Shri Sukhdev Singh, handed over the #MahaVirChakra to Lieutenant General D S Rana, CINCAN and the Colonel of Garhwal Rifles & Garhwal Scouts at Dharamshala for displaying in the Regimental Centre to motivate future generations.
