The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Forever Red: Cole Meets Alpha 7! Celebrating #PowerRangersDay with this restored deleted scene from Season 10’s epic Red Ranger Reunion, painstakingly built from scratch by the talented Kadam’s Edits from the recovered raw dailies by PR Media Info. Presumably cut for time, this scene took place on the Megaship Mark II between taking off from NASADA and Tommy’s team briefing in the war room. Andros leads the other Red Rangers of Earth down the hall — TJ feeling right at home aboard the familiar ship; Jason stoically impressed; Eric stoked in front of Wes; Carter in awed silence; and finally Cole, taking in the experience with childlike innocence. Getting lost staring into space, the Blazing Lion is interrupted by Alpha 7 — originally properly introduced in this scene as a walking database of everything Power Rangers. Having grown up in the jungle and never seen a robot before, Cole reacts to the automaton with wonder. We teased this footage years ago before launching the Preservation Project, and we’re proud to finally present this lost scene as it was intended — complete with music and sound, special effects, and a very special feature by Campbell Cooley as Alpha 7! Campbell voiced Alpha 6 in Once a Ranger [Operation Overdrive’s Season 15 Anniversary Special], going on to voice Snide [Dino Charge], Cosmo Royale [Ninja Steel], Scrozzle [Beast Morphers], and Slyther [Dino Fury]. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Forever Red Morphs: Selwyn Ward as TJ! Celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth with Selwyn Ward [“TJ”], who broke ground as the first African American Red Ranger in franchise history. Though TJ went on to become the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers in Space, he reprised his Turbo Red Morph for the series’ 10th Anniversary Special. This Anatomy of a Scene by Kadam’s Edits includes raw Morph Call Footage as well as Ranger Pose Footage — demonstrating the crew’s dedication to precision when it comes to syncing up the actor, stunt performer, and camera moves. Selwyn’s missed insertion of his Turbo Key into the Turbo Morpher was meant to be disguised by red energy VFX [as seen in the original series], but was missed or omitted from the VFX workflow for the special. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents: The Lost Wild Force Morphs 🐯 Noble Tiger! Shot on November 29, 2001 and directed by Stunt Coordinator Makoto Yokoyama, Alyssa [Jessica Rey]’s Morph is the last of the original morph footage to release in its entirety [as Black was not shot that first day]. Per the rest of the series, the footage captures the same content as the Gaoranger Henshin and was recycled for Alyssa’s silhouette in Wild Force’s Logo Animation. In the final Wild Force morph as aired, Jessica Rey’s head [from additional footage not seen here] is pasted onto Gao White’s body [knees together, vs. staggered footing here] in the full-body shot. In profile however, Jessica’s head from this sequence is used — but only from the chin, up. From the collar down, that’s Gao White! And of course, the White Ranger helmet shot practically here went unused in favor of CG. Digitization & Archival by Power Rangers Media Info. Sponsored by M⚡️M Patreon Morphin Master MintBari. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Ancient Awakening: The Network Cut Part I! This episodic breakdown compares the original submitted Network Cut featuring Natasha Allas as Princess Shayla to the final episode as aired. The Network Cut is unpolished in that it’s meant to give execs a feel for the episode prior to adding post-production elements like VFX, music, and ADR. Besides the obvious difference in Princess Shayla actresses, the Network Cut also features some different character blocking — losing Cole reading the Ranger Rule Book up in a tree in favor of vine wrangling with Max, while Danny gardened and Taylor read. The second scene shows a clear example of network notes in action; early Taylor’s hard attitude is softened to make the character softer and more approachable, tamping down the aggressiveness of her line delivery in the Network Cut. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents The Lost Wild Force Premiere Epilogue! The raw footage recovered from VHS production dailies reveals the original final scene of Wild Force’s first episode. The teens return to the Animarium after defeating Turbine Org, greeted by Princess Shayla and the Wildzords. This scene features the only in-series look at the actors in their spandex, previously seen in unit photography used in different print projects over the years; also notably featuring the original actress and design for Princess Shayla [Natasha Allas]. While we didn’t have access to the scripted scene for reference, we constructed the most likely configuration based on the scenes available. We also recycled the narration placed over Lionheart’s Final Air ending scene [Sentai footage of the team] to present this new scene as seamlessly as possible. The reason why production opted to leverage a few more seconds of Sentai footage rather than reshoot this scene once Princess Shayla was recast is unknown; although a plausible guess would be that it was quicker, cheaper, and easier. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents The Original Nadira’s Dream Date Epilogue! Originally cut for time, this deleted scene finds the Nick of Time team window washing for their latest odd job. Finally free of Nadira’s misguided affection, Lucas and Wes answer a curious Trip’s question: Are all girls like Nadira? Cut to Jen and Katie pouring cold water all over the boys’ analysis. The scene before this saw Nadira meeting her true secret admirer on the beach, discovering him to be none other than Gluto. Her storming off would serve as the episode’s ending, giving Nadira the final moment of her focal episode instead. A fitting ending, to be sure — but it’s nice to get an extra moment of one of our favorite casts having fun with each other! Similar to other restored scenes featured in the Preservation Project, this scene was built from scratch leveraging only raw dailies. Our deepest gratitude to our talented editor Adam for once again cutting together a clip you’d swear was the real deal! The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents The :60s Wild Force Instrumental Theme! Sourced from our digitized batch of Final Air copies, we’re kicking off 2025 with this opening credits instrumental primed for convention karaoke — including both the instrumental and SFX tracks, leaving the endearingly hokey overlaid sound effects intact. This is Version 2.1 of the Wild Force Opening Credits, which includes Merrick and elements from the latter half of the season, as well as the third version of Alyson Kiperman’s Cast Credit Card — a response to audience testing in an attempt to make Taylor appear softer and more accessible. Full proper instrumental versions of PR themes are difficult to find, as they lacked official releases and were always truncated to the :30s versions for official usage [over the end credits]. Though the SFX are still intact, this clip ensures Wild Force can be checked off the full instrumental season theme wish list. Wild Access! Worth nothing — this discovery could have been completely overlooked had we not been carefully reviewing what seemed to be an otherwise benign VHS copy; which we hope helps shed some light on the time it can take to properly review these assets once they’ve been digitized to make sure we don’t miss anything. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents: The Lost Wild Force Morphs 🦅 Soaring Eagle! Alyson Kiperman [Sullivan] in raw footage from the Original Wild Force Yellow Morph Sequence — captured on the very first day of production on the series. Look closely and you’ll spot Cinematographer Sean McLin and Director Makoto Yokoyama working with Alyson to get the shot just right! Taylor Earhardt is the longest tenured Wild Force Ranger and the first to join the team. She was the leader before Cole joined the team, leveraging her tactical air force training to fight the Orgs for over a year before the series took place. The original morph sequences were still carbon copies of the Gaoranger Henshin, but would go un-used in the series in favor of footage that pasted US actor heads on the Gaoranger bodies. Some of this footage did find its way into the series however, appearing in the opening theme’s logo animation — the silhouette posing beneath the ‘Power Rangers’ logo before giving way to ‘WILD FORCE’. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Snip It, Snip It Good: The Original Cut! Back in early 2003, the outbreak of the Iraq War forced reshoots of Ninja Storm’s ninth episode over concerns its focal point of an Alien Security Conference struck a little too close to current events. The original cut of the episode had already been completed and delivered to the network; but Operation Iraqi Freedom commenced two weeks before the episode was set to air, and the network pulled it for reshoots — which pushed the air date back five months. The original cut was lost — until now! The reshoots primarily centered around the conference itself, replacing updated decorative banners and dialogue with precision that allowed production to leverage as much pre-shot footage as possible — simply rebranding the ‘Alien Security’ to an ‘Environmental’ focus. Much of the conference were reshot exactly as it was originally composed, as demonstrated by this edit by Morphin Museum’s Kadam’s Edits. Outside of the conference reshoots, the only hero scene requiring reshoots was a portion on Lothor’s ship. Digitization & Archival by Power Rangers Media Info. Edit by Adam 🏴. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Anatomy of a Scene: The Hovertek Cycle Debut! This shot-by-shot comparison of the Overdrive Hovertek Cycle’s first battle breaks down the original footage captured against the final product. You really get a sense of how much work goes into a quick sequence like this, and how many different shots it can take to put one finished composite shot together. The Hovertek Cycle — capable of both land and air combat — was exclusively piloted by Will Aston / Overdrive Black. Bonus? The Alpha Stunts Team jumping in for visual reference! Directed by 2nd Unit Director Tomoaki Kawasumi, who joined Rangers circa Time Force and stayed on through Jungle Fury. Do you want to see more scene breakdowns like these? Edit by Adam 🏴. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents Ninja Storm Screen Tests: Jorgito Vargas, Jr. as Blake Bradley! 🔵 🪲 The Navy Thunder Ranger looks a little different in his wardrobe + makeup test — sporting a cropped cut with frosted tips tinted blue rather than the natural color we saw on-screen. He first poses in oversized Navy spandex, forced to hold up his belt while he rotates; one of his unsecured shoulder pads falling off in the process while the other is on backwards. Similar to some of the other Ninja Storm Screen Tests, Jorgito Vargas Jr. also dons the Navy Hero Helmet for a spin. Jorgito’s test then moves outside the studio to exterior / natural lighting, hitting some classic superhero poses. Directed by Koichi Sakamoto on October 17, 2002. The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents The DINORANGERS Pitch With Bio-Man Pilot Footage! Sometime after Saban’s Galaxy Rangers Pitch but before MMPR footage was ready, Saban released DINORANGERS — a 6.5 minute Pitch recycling more bits from the lost Bioman Pilot with Mark Dacascos, Tricia Leigh Fisher, Miguel A Nunez Jr, Tom Silardi, and Rebecca Staples cut against Zyuranger Footage [and even some Bioman!]. New US Bio-Man footage included previously seen Preservation Teasers like Victor Lee’s and Zack Taylor’s extended intros, a solitary peek at an Americanized Peebo as Alpha-5, plus a variety of new shots of the teens in the desert, additional interactions [❌90210❌], and a final moment of Zack at Victor Lee’s Dojo. Most notably, Barbara Goodson appears as the iconic voice of Rita Repulsa — predating the original MMPR Cast — while also dubbing Trini in Zyu footage, as the Bio-Man Pilot Cast were years removed from production. Much of the dialogue would be recycled in the MMPR Pilot and Series. Other observations: • DinoRangers was set in 2014 • Zordon referred to as both ‘Zantor the Wise’ and ‘Zoltar’ • Command Center = The Desert Control Center • Power Coins = Coins of Power • Squatt and Baboo = Grock and Mongo • Bones = One of Rita’s Core Henchmonsters • Dino Zords + Megazord = Dino Droids + Mega DinoDroid Coming Soon from Saban Entertainment… if Rita allows it!
