#Ganabhaban siege was planned when the #Quota Movement was dying down: #Shibir's top leader brags in public forum. Gradually, the grand narrative re: the Jul-Aug events, that the Awami League Govt fell after spontaneous outburst of general students and people due to disproportionate use of force, is coming apart. After several indicative statements from a no. of #SAD Coordinators which revealed that the protests for job-quotas was basically a cover for forcing the downfall of an elected and constitutional govt (see added tweet), now leaders of Islami Chhatra #Shibir, the student wing of #JamaatEIslami, are also revealing what really happened behind the scenes. Secretary of IC Shibir's Dhaka Uni unit, S M Farhad, recently stated in a public event: "Whenever I see Asif Bhai (SAD Coordinator and currently Adviser in #Yunus-led Interim Govt), I am reminded of one incident. When the #QuotaMovement was losing its steam, he came to our house and drew a map discussing which 5/6 points around Ganabhaban needed to fall for us to take over the establishment. I still have that map preserved with care. In that paper all the points which needed to be captured are drawn." Shibir leaders and activists were heavily involved in the protests against the #SheikhHasina-led Govt with Abdul Kader, one of the key Coordinators of the Students Against Discrimimation Movement even crediting Shibir's Farhad with drafting the nine demands of their movement.
