As we prepare for a two-day #ReASpana service delivery programme in Marabastad, we need to ensure that the area is working properly in accordance with municipal by-laws for the benefit for traders and visitors. We are currently conducting a by-law enforcement operation in Marabastad following the issuing of Offers to Rectify by TMPD. We have demolished illegal structures that were built in unauthorised areas. Traders are encouraged to apply for licences with the City so that they can be allocated designated trading spaces. Today, #ReASpana is Mahube Valley, in Mamelodi. Our teams from various departments are scattered across the area for various service delivery teams. We’ve joined the IBEC team for by-law enforcement. This Cash and Carry in Mamelodi, that’s owned by foreign nationals, has a fraudulent Certificate of Acceptability for food premises and a fraudulent fire compliance certificate. In addition, they have no trading licence and this building was built without municipal approval. The owners have damaged municipal infrastructure through an illegal water connection. We have halted business operations, disconnected electricity and water.City of Tshwane

All spaza shops in Tshwane should be run by local people. We don’t want undocumented foreign nationals running spaza shops. Our children are dying because of food products sold by foreign run spaza shops that are renting spaces in our communities. #ReASpana City of Tshwane
