#Serbia — Clashes erupted between police and demonstrators during protests against the right-wing populist government of Aleksandar Vučić in Serbia. Thousands of students once again filled the streets demanding the resignation of Vučić’s government, which has remained in power since 2012 under the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The movement began after the deadly collapse of a roof at Novi Sad railway station on November 1, 2024, which killed 16 people. Since then, students have occupied universities, schools, streets, and public squares across the country, facing repeated police interventions. Protesters accuse the government of corruption, nepotism, media manipulation, and violence against demonstrators. Meanwhile, Serbian authorities continue attempting to portray the student movement as “traitorous” and “terrorist,” while also trying to obstruct demonstrations by disrupting transport networks, including trains and intercity buses.
