He was a leader who refused to bow down to foreign pressure, protected Somalia’s territorial integrity, and supported our brothers and sisters in Eritrea during their struggle for independence. History will remember Siyad Barre as the last Somali President who put Somalia’s pride, unity, and strength above everything else.
