Late on Feb. 16, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted three lethal kinetic strikes on three vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and were engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Eleven male narco-terrorists were killed during these actions, 4 on the first vessel in the Eastern Pacific, 4 on the second vessel in the Eastern Pacific, and 3 on the third vessel in the Caribbean. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted two lethal kinetic strikes on two vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two male narco-terrorists were killed, and one narco-terrorist survived the first strike. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during the second strike. Following the engagements, USSOUTHCOM immediately notified U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivor. No U.S. military forces were harmed. At the direction of #SOUTHCOM, the U.S. military continues supporting the Department of State-led U.S. government earthquake relief response in Venezuela. Today’s update: ☑️ A Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Center (HACC) has been established and will coordinate and direct U.S. military support to Venezuelan relief efforts. ☑️ Logistics Surge: A U.S. Marine Combat Logistics Company has arrived in-country, bringing medium-sized military transport trucks, highly mobile off-road vehicles, and military ambulance capabilities. ☑️ Maritime Support: USS Fort Lauderdale is berthed portside at the Port of La Guaira, providing vital assistance distribution and medical support to relief operations. USS Billings continues to provide vital offshore support. ☑️ Airlift Lifeline: Established a Forward Arming and Refueling Point (FARP) that enables rapid turnaround times for nearly a dozen rotary-wing aircraft.
