Securing lower-cost international support for systems when domestic options were more expensive. Generating equity through careful land transactions at the highest possible value. Building last-mile access in parallel rather than as an afterthought. Designing interchanges so that one mode hands over cleanly to the next. Creating the MumbaiOne App, Whatsapp Ticketing, ONDC integration, NCMC so that changing modes of transport becomes child's play. And shifting the way the metro spoke to the city — deliberately reaching out to women and children so that the system began to feel safe, familiar, and open to entire families. The result has been more than ridership growth. It has been a gentle but real shift in who feels the metro belongs to them. Infrastructure is often measured in kilometres and rupees. The deeper measure is whether ordinary people — mothers with school bags, young professionals, elderly couples — begin to trust it enough to change the way they move. Three hundred million journeys later, that trust is becoming visible. Mumbai in Minutes was never only about speed. It was about making the city feel smaller, safer, and more connected for those who live in it.
