Midfield 4-2-3-1 – SSG 2 #SundayShare #SundayShare TacticalPad® notes + video: 🎯 Goal: Develop structured midfield decision-making in a 4-2-3-1 shape with emphasis on half-space occupation, positional rondos, and intelligent timing of runs. Trains players to read visual cues, support from behind, and link zones under pressure. ❓ Why? This activity anchors midfielders in their functional game roles. The inclusion of half-space zones demands players think beyond static positioning—forcing movement in/out of pressure lines and sharpening the decision of when to enter the hot zones. Limiting touches raises the tempo, while offside and restart constraints mirror match conditions. It creates layered learning: •🔄 Repetition with variability (via positional rules and progressions) •🧠 Scanning + communication in compact spaces •🎯 Tactical triggers for overlapping fullbacks and linking central midfielders JUST COACH Osku Partonen The Sporting Resource Brett Godwin AscCloud Temisan Williams TacticalPad® @Tactica1Thinker

My #SundayShare is a defending session borrowing from the whole-part-whole method. Play starts with 3 v 3s. The channels are used as reference points but players can go where they wish. Then move to 1 v 1s in the channels. If attackers get into the box they are 1 v GK. Coaching points (group defending): · Movement: initial press to narrow space in front of attackers. · Scanning: where is the threat? Where are my teammates? · Communication: work as a group. · Positioning: protect the central area; use the channels as reference; keep a tight line. Progression (optional): create attacking overloads. Ended the session with a normal match where teams looked to play a back three and keep a solid defensive line (coaches transformed into eagle-eyed linos). Excellent session with the U11 on Friday looking at Block 3 topic: defending as a unit. #SundayShare The Sporting Resource AscCloud #coaching

Building from Back 4-3-3 (SSG 3) TacticalPad® notes + video: #SundayShare #SundayShare ⚽ Goal Develop building from the goalkeeper into midfield using positional rotations, rondo structures, and wide channel play, while teaching defenders when and how to step in. ❓ Why? This activity forces players to coordinate buildup under pressure. The goalkeeper, center backs, and pivots must create numerical superiority against a pressing front, while the 6, 2/3, and wing forwards learn to link in rondo shapes. Defenders are challenged to time their pressing runs and immediately transition to goal upon winning possession. My #SundayShare is a 1 v 1 defending practice. Coaching points: • Movement/positioning: first action - pressure: pressing the ball, slowing down upon approach; eyes forward facing play. • Body position: balls of feet, side on, low, ready to change direction. • Patience: delaying down the attack; narrowing attacking options? Decision-making: when to step in (tackle), when to back off, what side to show the attacker? · Confidence: in the tackle/contact. Progression: 2 v 2. One defender starts behind the attackers and is not active until an attacker takes first touch. Great session on Friday. That's a wrap of Week 5 in the U11 syllabus. #SundayShare The Sporting Resource #1v1
