When it collapsed she did not die with it — she fell, burning, through the space between worlds, and came to rest in the ember void that lies beneath all things. The rifts did not free her. They found her. When the first tear opened above Valdir, her throne-light bled upward through the stone, and the deep places of the kingdom began to glow red from within. She never crossed over. She never needed to. She let the dungeon become her antechamber, and waited for what always comes. Nine generations of Valdir's finest have walked through that rift to end her. Each was certain he would be the one. She keeps their swords in the rock beneath her throne, and she remembers every face. She stays because leaving would mean the hunting is over. And she is not yet bored. "Zal’arion" is the tenth. 🦁
