#ThisDayThatYear Following Pakistan's pre-emptive strike on 03 Dec 1971, the IAF answered with precision and fury. Through the night, Canberra crew flew 23 deep-strike missions, hitting enemy airfields at Murid, Mianwali, Sargodha, Chander, Risalewala, Shorkot and Masrur (Karachi). Runways were cratered, installations shattered, and the adversary's early move was blunted within hours. Air-Land Ops also kicked off with a thunderous reminder of IAF's reach. An-12s dropped 48 x 500 lb bombs over Changa Manga, triggering a massive fire in the enemy supply dump. #IAFHistory #1971War रक्षा मंत्री कार्यालय/ RMO India Ministry of Defence, Government of India HQ IDS ADG PI - INDIAN ARMY SpokespersonNavy IN DISHA by Indian Air Force

#ThisDayThatYear 1971War-IAF attacks on 14 Dec 1971 In the East, intelligence inputs indicated a critical meeting being planned in the Govt House Dacca. #IAF launched an immediate op that hastened the end of the war. At 1255 hrs, with the meeting underway, MiG-21s and Hunters attacked the building with pinpoint accuracy, severely demoralising the head of East Pak Govt & his Cabinet, who resigned on the spot. In the West, #IAF denied Pakistan Army all forms of movement. Offensive Sweeps went about looking for targets to destroy, while road/rail & enemy ground positions were pummeled with heavy bomb loads dropped by HF-24s, Canberras & An-12s. In the North, in an act of profound gallantry, 26-year old Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon battled singularly against a wave of six attacking Sabres. Heavily outnumbered, the young Officer held his own fighting valiantly, eventually falling to the weight of numbers. #1971War #IAFHistory #IndianAirForce रक्षा मंत्री कार्यालय/ RMO India Ministry of Defence, Government of India HQ IDS ADG PI - INDIAN ARMY SpokespersonNavy SpokespersonNavyMedia DISHA by Indian Air Force
