About 16 out of the 40 train cars were derailed, and some of them contained hazardous materials. This triggered a Level 2 hazmat response. Fortunately, the only material found leaking from the train cars was silicone pellets, which don’t pose a threat to the public. Officials say as a precaution, nearby residents and businesses were evacuated, but there is no indication that more evacuations will be needed. The cause of the derailment is currently being investigated.
