Monitoring :— 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 #𝐀𝐟𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 ▪️Afghanistan has become a safe haven for terrorists, posing a significant threat to the peace of Pakistan and the region. ▪️According to a Congressional Research Service report: "TTP has full support and facilitation from Al-Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban for attacks in Pakistan." ▪️A recent report by the Congressional Research Service states: "The United Nations sanctions monitoring report indicates that terrorists in Afghanistan are a major threat to regional security." ▪️The report also notes: "Terrorist organization al-Qaeda has been present in Afghanistan since 1990." ▪️Al-Qaeda was given safe havens in Afghanistan as it planned the 9/11 attacks, according to the Congressional Research Service. ▪️The UN sanctions monitors report that: "Al-Qaeda is in a restructuring phase in eastern Afghanistan, establishing new training centers." ▪️The January 2024 UN Sanctions Monitor report states: "Al-Qaeda operates training camps, seminaries, and safe havens in Afghanistan but is currently unable to plan sophisticated long-range attacks." ▪️Following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, there has been an increase in attacks on Pakistan, as the TTP was provided with safe havens in Afghanistan, the report notes. ▪️Regarding the terrorist organization TTP, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, the United Nations Sanctions Monitor report states: "TTP has an anti-Pakistan agenda." ▪️The TTP emerged as a pro-Afghan Taliban party, after which many Afghan Taliban members joined the TTP. ▪️The Islamic State of Khorasan Province (1SKP) includes many TTP terrorists who fled to Afghanistan after the #Pakistan Army's 2014 operation, the report states. ▪️I1SKP is described as the most dangerous terrorist organization in Afghanistan, being listed as a terrorist organization in 2016. ▪️1SKP carried out attacks in various countries, including #Russia in March 2024, causing significant casualties. ▪️1SKP recruits terrorists from across Central Asia and is estimated to currently have between 2,000 and 5,000 members, according to the report. ▪️Afghanistan is also home to the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement, which conduct terrorist activities across Central Asian states. ▪️The headquarters of the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement remain under Taliban control in northwestern Afghanistan, the report states. ▪️The presence of terrorists in Afghanistan is a major obstacle to regional development, necessitating urgent international action.
