President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the gazetting of targeted, investment-linked incentives to support the proposed Bonga South West deep-offshore oil project by Shell and its partners. “These incentives are not blanket concessions, They are ring-fenced and investment-linked, focused on new capital and incremental production, strong local content delivery, and in-country value addition" “My expectation is clear: Bonga South West must reach a Final Investment Decision within the first term of this administration.”

It is aimed at the exploration for oil and gas production in the country, and a budget of Rs 84 thousand crore has been allocated for it... It has two main components: first, offshore seismic data acquisition, with a support of Rs 28 thousand crore. This means using seismic technology to formulate a precise exploration plan based on data from areas with the highest potential for oil and gas deposits... Once the exploration plan is ready, production activities can be initiated in a more scientific manner... The second major component is accelerated offshore exploration scheme, with a support of Rs 43 thousand crore..." He also says, "This will prove to be a major game-changer for the country's rising demand for oil and gas. It will result in significant savings of foreign exchange..."

In a major boost to Atmanirbharta in the critical defence technology, CVRDE DRDO achieved a major milestone in the development of Light Tank (designed and developed by DRDO and manufactured by Larson & Toubro Ltd.) by demonstrating the Anti Tank Guided Missile (Nag Mk II) Firing capability. All performance objectives, including the range, maneuverability for top attack mode, and accuracy, were achieved. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has congratulated Team DRDO.

Congratulations Oil India Limited ! An ocean of energy opportunities reinforced in the Andaman Sea! Very happy to report the presence of natural gas in Sri Vijayapuram-3 an exploratory well drilled by Oil India Ltd. 15 km off the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 355 meters. Initial production testing of the well at the depth of 1900 plus meters in the Eocene formation has established the presence of natural gas through continuous flaring. Oil India is carrying out gas sampling to assess the composition & calorific value of gas and to carry out isotope studies to understand the genesis of the gas. Under the Samudra Manthan Mission (National Deep Water Exploration Mission) announced by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji on Independence Day 2025, large number of deepwater & Ultra deepwater exploration wells are planned in our offshore basins to fully exploit our hydrocarbon reserves. Presence of hydrocarbon is now reported in 2(Two) wells out of 3 (Three) exploratory wells drilled by OIL in current exploratory campaign off Andaman Basin. This presence of natural gas will help us in taking forward our exploration ambitions in coordination with global deepwater exploration experts like Petrobras, TotalEnergies, bp India, Shell, ExxonMobil and will be a significant milestone in our journey through Amrit Kaal! An ocean of energy opportunities opens up in the Andaman Sea! Very happy to report the occurrence of natural gas in Sri Vijayapuram 2 well at a distance of 9.20 NM (17 km) from the shoreline on the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 295 meters and target depth of 2650 meters. Initial production testing of the well in the range of 2212 – 2250 meters has established the presence of natural gas with intermittent flaring. The gas samples were brought by ship to Kakinada, were tested and found to be 87% methane. The size of the gas pool and commercial viability of the discovery will get verified in the coming months but establishing the presence of hydrocarbons in the Andaman basin is a major step in confirming our long held belief that Andaman basin is rich in natural gas, in line with discoveries in the entire area from Myanmar in North to Indonesia in the south in this belt. Under the deepwater mission announced by Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji on Independence Day, large number of deepwater exploration wells are planned in our offshore basins in order to find new discoveries and fully exploit our hydrocarbon reserves. The first Aircraft LA5033 of the Tejas Mk1A Aircraft series took to the skies from HAL facility in Bengaluru today. It was a successful sortie with a flying time of 18 minutes. HAL achieved this significant production milestone with concurrent design & development amid major supply chain challenges in the global geo-political environment subsequent to the contract signature in February 2021.
