1. Keep in mind there’s no CGI, green screen or special effects in this commercial 2. Now watch the commercial 3. Then ponder on exactly how crazy, brilliant, cool & miraculously well timed every part of this advert is SOUTHWEST AIRLINES (1972)

🚨Please revive Chiitan, the advertising god. I'm taking a break from advertising for a while because I've been hurt in the fight against bad ads. But if you all follow Chiitan's X, I can revive as the advertising god. Share this post and follow my X. Give me your power✨

I can guarantee you this. That wasn't anywhere near the first take. The noise and vibration is beyond overwhelming. It took her a few go arounds to get composed. It also looks like a lower speed flyby vs a take off. Having said that, this is massively impressive.

There were 6 takes in all. Still impressive.

I love it. Was a companion pass holder for 25+ years and an @SWA @SouthwestAir loyalist until a couple years ago. Sadly, their service levels and what made them great are no more. Terrible DEI staff compared to when they hired the best. Herb and his right hand lady are surely 🥲

Life was so much better before CGI and AI when it comes to movies, TV, animation, commercials and anything involving the depiction of humanity. CGI movies bore the shit out of me. Because they aren't about complex human relationships. They're always retelling hackneyed myths with archetypes instead of characters, and the CGI is doing most of the heavy lifting in terms of story and maintaining interest. Give me a low-budget Val Lewton film in which real-world creativity had to solve problems, create mood, and tell a story, or a big-scale movie like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, that was vast in scope and beautifully shot on location, yet ultimately character-driven.
