Nansana Municipality has received Shs366 million from Bloomberg Philanthropies to support youth-led climate initiatives. The funding will help youth run sensitisation campaigns in schools using skits and poems. Mayor Regina Bakitte is hopeful that past initiatives, including tree planting and climate education, will help combat climate degradation. Bill Gates is betting millions on a bizarre climate "fix": cutting down trees… and burying them. Kadama Systems—backed by Gates’ Breakthrough Energy—raised $6.6M to chop forests, bury the wood, and sell it as carbon offsets. The US Forest Service plans to thin 70 million acres (mostly in California), removing 1+ billion tons of biomass. Instead of using it for lumber, they’ll lock it underground. Traditional use: Trees → lumber → homes New model: Trees → buried → carbon credits Does this actually fight climate change… or just enrich carbon traders?
