🚀✈️/1. Russian Tu-22M3 a supersonic, long-range strategic strike bomber, has crashed in the Stavropol region of Russia, near the village of Bogomolov.

According to Russian ministry of defense the plane crashed while returning to its home airfield after Russian night missile attack on Ukraine. As claimed by Russian ministry of defense, the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction. Also other Russian sources report that one crew member died.

/3. Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine has suffered as a result of the Russian night missile attack on Ukraine, in which this Russian Tu-22 also took part. Tu-22 was launching Kh-22 long-range anti-ship missiles. At this moment it is known that 8 people were killed, 29 people were injured.

According to Ukrainian claims Russian Tu-22was shot down as a result of the operation of the Main Directorate of Intelligence and Ukrainian Air Forces. “One of the Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, which carried out a missile attack against Ukraine on the night of April 19, was shot down as a result of a special operation of the Main Directorate of Intelligence in cooperation with the Air Force. The enemy Tu-22M3 aircraft was shot down at a distance of about 300 kilometers from the frontline by the same means that were previously used to shoot down the Russian A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft. As a result of the damage, the bomber was able to fly to the Stavropol region, where it fell and crashed. ❗️ It should be noted that this is the first successful destruction of a strategic bomber in the air during a combat sortie during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

3 of 4 pilots survived and will be able again to bomb ukrainian civilians. But either way russian loss of Tu-22M3 is good news.

What a sad news... that the suckers managed to eject. The TU22 is especially beautiful when burning and spining. Would love to see more of them in such a flight configuration :)
