#WATCH | Assam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across River Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati. The 6-lane extradosed Prestressed Concrete (PSC) bridge, built at a cost of around Rs 3,030 crore, connects Guwahati with North Guwahati and is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India. It will cut travel time between Guwahati-North Guwahati to 7 minutes. Considering the high seismicity of the region, the bridge incorporates base isolation technology using friction pendulum bearings. High-performance stay cables have been used to ensure durability and long-term structural performance. A Bridge Health Monitoring System (BHMS) has also been incorporated for real-time condition monitoring, early damage detection and improved safety and service life of the extradosed bridge. Congress built 3 major bridges across the Brahmaputra in 60 years. BJP has built 9, with 5 more in the pipeline, in ten years. That single comparison captures everything. The Bogibeel Bridge — conceived in 1985, delayed for thirty years under Congress, inaugurated by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji in 2018. The Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge — at cost of₹4,997 crore, 19 km across the Brahmaputra, will cut travel distance from 200 km to 19 km. The Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu cut travel time from North Guwahati to the city from 90 minutes to 15 minutes. We are building India's first road-cum-rail tunnel under the Brahmaputra — the Gohpur-Numaligarh Tunnel, Cabinet-approved in February 2026, which will cut a 6-hour journey to under 20 minutes. Mamata Banerjee is being brutally trolled by the people of Kalna and Shantipur for allegedly misleading them about a ₹1100 crore bridge project between the two towns. She claimed that a bridge between Kalna and Shantipur has been constructed, but in reality, even the soil testing work has stalled due to pending land acquisition payments. Locals are now using AI-generated images and videos of the proposed bridge to mock her claims. In 2016, a boat capsized between Kalna and Shantipur, killing 20 people. Wherever PM Modi goes history lesson follows. Many were saying Seychelles is an irrelevant island, no one knows about it, we shouldn’t care about it. This video is exactly for those people. Indians first arrived at Sainte Anne island of Seychelles in 1770 and showed path to rest of the world. Even PM Modi first visited Seychelles in 2015 itself.
