I have no idea why I have a sudden interest in metallurgy. 😄

This is AI crap. It's not how it actually looks when you melt two metals together.

Did you know that the earliest copper mining, copper casting, and later bronze working originated in the Carpathian Basin and spread from there? 👀 Even the Sumerians learned these technologies from there. ☝️ Early Copper Age processing (4500–4000 BCE): Clay tuyères (blowing pipes) found at regional sites provide the earliest direct evidence for local melting and smelting activities. Middle Copper Age advancements (3900–3700 BCE): Crucibles bearing slag remnants confirm local casting and melting from processed raw materials, alongside a technological transition to crafting flat axes from arsenical copper.

Why use AI slop for the video?

as a (former) backyard smelter, this ai generated video is for educational purposes only. They are leaving out critical flux and impurities removers. Metallurgy especially when you get to the high temperature stuff is more like alchemy. Magic is involved.

Never melt magnesium in air. It can lead to ... issues. Also, stainless steel needs carbon (low, aprox 0.03%, but still necessary).

You’re very lucky to experiment with metals.. Metals have always fascinated me, and in my next life I will study metallurgy and geology

Carbon is needed for the stainless steel

I've been dealing with metals my entire career and it always cracks me up that it only takes some heat and a stirring stick to make an alloy.

Как любителю физики, мне плохо на это смотреть. Эти сплавы создаются в здоровенных печах, под большим давлением и температуры Хуйня короче видео

Alloy comes from the Greek 'allos' meaning 'another of the same sort', which is why they form metals together. It contrasts with 'hetero', meaning another of a different sort. 'Alleles' are copies of genes.

bronze isnt even the interesting one. the real chemistry is what happens when you get the ratios wrong and end up with something that looks like copper but snaps like glass.

If I was to have a favourite alloy and only for aesthetic purposes it would be bronze every day. It’s colour and when bronze feels so much different.
