We have over a 125 years of rainfall data for west of the Great Dividing Range (the Murray Darling Basin) and the data is clear, there is NO climate change trend in rainfall. There is NO increase in natural disasters - it’s a land out droughts and flooding rains, as it has always been. In 2004, the BBC warned the Maldives were "soon to be uninhabitable," claiming sea levels were rising 0.9 cm per year and that 80% of the islands could vanish within a century. The Maldives haven't sunk, they've exploded with growth: 12 new airports, expanded international terminals, record tourism of over 2 million visitors a year, and more than 170 resorts, with 7 added in 2024. Instead of disappearing under the waves, this so-called "paradise in peril" has shown no statistically significant sea level rise since the 1980s, according to satellite data. Here we have another 'climate catastrophe' headline completely undone by time.

U.S. heat extremes aren't increasing, they've actually declined for a century. NOAA has 657 stations with 100-plus years of data. It is revealed that the number of hot days above 95F, 100F and 105F has no upward trend since the 1930s. The hottest decades for extreme heat were the Dust Bowl years, not today. In fact, of the top 15 years with the most days above 95F, only one has been recorded in the last 70 years (in 1980). Summer 2025 was no exception to the trend. Despite the increasingly absurd headlines, extreme heat days this year came in firmly mid-pack compared to the past 130 years. The United States is not experiencing a surge in extreme heat. The worst heat waves occurred a century ago and at lower atmospheric CO2 levels.

The overall state rainfall was approximately 30% above normal for the period. The 2020 monsoon stands out for the historic Hyderabad floods, when the city was battered by unprecedented rains in mid-October. On October 14th, rainfall crossed 200 mm across many parts of the city Himayatnagar (298.8 mm), Charminar (245 mm), Bandlaguda (242 mm), and the SR Campus gauge reported an exceptional 311 mm. Across Telangana, the season’s rainfall was 46% above normal. Even before the recent extremes, Telangana had witnessed above-normal monsoon years. In 2019, the state averaged 1,018.2 mm of rainfall against a normal of 938.8 mm, while in 2016, the average reached 1,032 mm, about 10% higher than the state’s long-term mean of ~939 mm. In 2020, the average sea level rise was just 1.5 mm per year, or only 6 inches per century. This rate is less than half of what the IPCC claims, which is 3 to 4 mm per year.
