ArianeGroup and the European Space Agency (ESA) have signed a new contract under the Future Launchers Preparatory Programme to continue the development of the GRETA rocket engine. 🚀 The agreement follows a successful hot-fire campaign completed in 2025 in Germany. The German contribution to the development of GRETA is coordinated by Deutsche Raumfahrtagentur. GRETA explores hydrogen peroxide and ethanol as alternatives to traditional hypergolic propellants, introducing new ignition and combustion challenges while improving sustainability and handling safety. 🔥 The campaign delivered critical data on combustion performance and cooling behaviour. This was by far the most intense one yet with a sudden & dramatic burst of audio energy unlike any of the first 8 launches that Ellie in Space 🚀💫 & I have watched! Turn up the sound on this one ... you can feel & see the shaking of the house we were at in Port Isabele, 5 miles from the launch site!
