Today, we’re opening up access to Personal Intelligence for AI Mode in Search in the U.S. 🚀 This feature has totally changed how I use AI in Search. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Opt in to connect apps like Gmail and Google Photos. Search connects your info to give you responses that uniquely match your specific context and interests. 2️⃣ Start asking for things like ideas and recommendations, where this is particularly helpful. For example: I wanted new podcast ideas and Personal Intelligence in AI Mode gave me spot-on recs for AI and product building shows that are similar to some of my favorites (hey Lenny Rachitsky!). It even found some unexpected options around dad life working in tech. 🎧

Personal Intelligence is rolling out in AI Mode, making Search even more uniquely yours! 🚀 By securely connecting AI Mode to apps like Gmail and Google Photos, you’ll now get responses that are tailored just for you. Say you’re shopping for a coat for a trip coming up. AI Mode can reference your Gmail itinerary to intelligently understand your flight dates and that you’re headed to a (still very chilly!) Chicago in March, while taking into account your personal style. This means you get tailored recommendations automatically without having to explain yourself from scratch every time.

(1/2) AI in Search continues to make it easier to ask Google *anything* and get a helpful response. Today, I'm excited to share another step towards that vision: AI Mode – our most powerful AI search – is coming to the Chrome address bar. This means you can use AI Mode to ask complex, multi-part questions right from the same place you already search and browse the web from Chrome. And you can quickly ask follow-up questions and explore more content from across the web. We’re rolling this out to users in the U.S. later this month and will expand to more countries and languages in the weeks ahead.

AI Mode in Search introduces new reasoning and tools under the hood with a custom version of Gemini models. For any question, it makes a plan, breaks it down into related subtopics, and runs multiple Google searches to find the most helpful and reliable info. With this query fan-out, AI Mode finds real-time info from both the web and from Google, like facts from our Knowledge Graph, info about the real-world, and shopping details on billions of products. This approach helps you get a greater breadth and depth of information than a traditional search on Google.
