The sign had been displayed at the MNGOP State Fair booth for just one day before it was taken. “We knew Lisa Demuth’s $99-or-less car-tabs proposal was popular—we just didn’t know people would start stealing the signs,” quipped MNGOP Chairman Alex Plechash. Lisa Demuth has committed to bringing car tabs down to $99 or less per year when she is elected governor. Minnesotans faced dramatic increases in car tab fees under total Democrat control and Democrats have since proposed “quintupling” fees even further. Amy Klobuchar has glowingly supported the legislator leading the charge to increase car tab fees by another 500%. MNGOP Fair Booth security first noticed the alleged individual earlier in the afternoon and alerted State Fair Police to his suspicious behavior. The individual was directed to leave the area, which he did, only to come back later. State Fair Police have been working closely with MNGOP staff throughout the day to try to identify this potential suspect. The MNGOP has filed a police report and requested that charges be pursued. Photos and video of the suspect are being released publicly. WATCH: At a hearing on fraud in a Minnesota autism program Monday, DHS inspector general James Clark said the state previously couldn't conduct unannounced site visits of providers. "It was I believe 24 hours notice that we gave the providers before we went out." Additionally, now that the program is requiring licensure, only 6 of the 500 or so providers have applied. "Which is shocking," says Rep. Patti Anderson. "Why are you giving them another three months to fraudulently bill the state before they don't have a license?"
