the pipeline of hiring local, then indian, then AI my dumb ass got an IT degree in 2018 before covid when most of the jobs got replaced with indians due to covid

I wonder how many of y all actually understand these tech layoffs. I suspect NONE. lemme explain who s getting fired: - middle management i.e "engineering managers", especially pure managers w no hands on impact - recruiters - weaker engineers. none of those are the "devs"

All those people will use the same AI tools to chip away at SaaS because SaaS no longer makes sense in the age of AI—you can't afford to ship your data to a walled garden like Notion or Slack. SaaS is dead, and the leaders must be seeing it. I think we will reach some kind of optimal distribution of labor where these people, who previously captured only a small fraction of the value they produced for the C-suite types, become, due to necessity, more entrepreneurial.

130k developer layoffs year-to-date. same quarter nvidia hit $5.5T and anthropic gave claude code a 50% usage bump because demand is outpacing capacity. they're not spending less on technical work. they're routing around the people who weren't using the tools. the best thing you can do in 2026, is build using these tools.

Kind of explains why almost every piece of software I use has become an awful, unstable, buggy mess over the last 18 months or so.
