1/4 Friday share: MD+2/MD-2. A recovery session focusing mainly on sub-sub principles in attack. First, 6 v 6 diagonal possession where 2 players from each team had to be in the corners at all time. Points scored by playing 10 passes or playing from triangle to triangle x2.

2/4 Second, we practiced build up against a high press in a 6 v 6 using two separate designs and one important constraint. Constraint for both designs: Players had to use at least 2 touches unless it was a 1-touch support pass. Design 1: Score in the small goals.

3/4 Design 2, with the same 2-touch constraint: You score by dribbling composed over the line. The opponent team dried to win the ball and score in the opposing small goals in both designs. Team competition.

4/4 We finished the session by splitting up into smaller groups to practice on some details. Here, we are working on the scanning timing with the simplest possible design. If a teammate is in front, you turn and pass to him. If an opponent is in front, you play 1-touch back.

What does the two touch over one touch encourage?

It is an important constraint we sometimes use in the build up. When attempting to play under severe pressure in tight areas, two touches or more increase the likelihood of making successful passes.

I like the freedom given to players on the triangles to interchange with another inside player. Also looking at this session we often stress for players to try limit playing 1 touch due us having too many turnovers. However 1 touch does speed up the game

What are sub-sub principles?

In a team with say 25 players to train, would you set up one game like this and rotate teams in and out? Or would you set up two sessions going simultaneously?
