🚨 14 year old Esther “Esti” has been missing from Toronto for over a week. Her family asked Global News to re-share this clip from last year because they hope someone recognizes her face, her voice, or remembers an interaction that didn’t seem important at the time. Watching it... is honestly devastating. She comes across as bright, warm, articulate, and genuinely sweet. Her parents describe her as extremely intelligent, deeply caring, and trusting. Esti is on the autism spectrum and her family is terrified that someone may have taken advantage of that. She was last seen late Friday night on May 15 near Earl Bales Park in North York. Police later released security footage appearing to show her in a restaurant shortly after midnight. Toronto Police launched a Level 1 search, the highest level search operation available, involving multiple specialized units. She’s 5’2 with brown hair and was last seen wearing a turquoise sweater with writing on the front and grey sweatpants. Police say she was not wearing shoes. A close family friend, Jessica Fensome, made a video message pleading with Lexi to get in touch and come home. Lexi has not been seen since leaving her home in Houghton Regis two weeks ago, on June 24. Miss Fensome said: 'Lexi, your family and friends all miss you. Please get in contact with your mum, the police or me and come home. 'You're not in any trouble; we just want you home safe.' She also faked her name and told the owner that her name is Mainsil Jain. Some concerned passersby alerted the PCR, and the Bhubaneswar Police responded promptly and reached the spot immediately. If she was accidentally separated from her family, it is unfortunate and understandable. But if she was deliberately abandoned on the roadside by someone, it is truly shameful and heartbreaking. A 19-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her father during a counselling session in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district after she insisted on living with a man she had married against her family's wishes, police said. The shocking incident took place in the Badousa police station area on Thursday and has triggered widespread outrage across the district. According to police, the woman had been in a relationship with a young man from her neighbourhood. On May 18, she left home with him, prompting her family to file a complaint. A case was subsequently registered and police launched a search operation to trace her. Banda Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal said the woman was found safe on June 12 and brought back as part of the legal process. Her parents were informed and were called for discussions and counselling with police officials. During the interaction, the woman reportedly maintained that she wanted to stay with her husband. Police said she had married the man after leaving home and was unwilling to return to her family despite repeated attempts by relatives and officials to persuade her otherwise. According to investigators, tensions escalated during the counselling session when her father suddenly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, stabbing her in the abdomen. The injured woman was rushed to the Atarra Community Health Centre and later referred to a medical college for advanced treatment. However, doctors declared her dead. SP Bansal said that based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother, police registered a murder case against the woman's father. The accused has been taken into custody and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered. "The woman had been safely recovered and her family was informed. During counselling and discussions with her parents, her father attacked her with a sharp weapon. A case has been registered and the accused has been detained. Further legal proceedings are underway," the SP said. Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and initiated further investigation into the case. The incident has drawn attention across Banda, with many describing it as a suspected case of honour killing. However, police have so far registered the case as murder and said further investigation will determine all circumstances leading to the killing.

Last week, we said goodbye to our beautiful Nisha. She came to us as a rescue, after being found as a stray, and became a deeply loved part of our family, and part of the music too, appearing quietly in so many of the cottage videos. Thank you to everyone who noticed her, asked about her, and loved her from afar. The music in the video is called “Nisha”, it's a melody we used to sing it to her at home during Covid lockdown, and I later recorded it on my album Solace. She was deeply loved. We miss her so much

Another Hindu woman dead: Khushbu Ahirwar (21), a native of Sehore, was living in Bhopal and pursuing her BA degree. She was working as a model as well and living-in with 27-year-old Qasim Ahmed. On Nov 10, Qasim brought Khushbu to the hospital as her condition deteriorated; he fled, and Khushbu was declared dead. Khushbu's mother, Laxmi, told police that the last time she spoke to her daughter was when she was travelling to Ujjain with Qasim. He spoke to Laxmi over the call and said, "I am Muslim, but your daughter is with me. Don't worry, I'm taking her to Ujjain," Laxmi said. Later, Khushbu herself called, reassuring her family: "Don't worry, Qasim is a good guy. I'm with him." Notably, Khushbu had blue marks all over her body. Maureen is a business lady at Kapletundo Centre Bomet county, where she operates a wines and spirits shop. On Saturday, officers from Kapletundo Police Post went to Maureen’s home and forcefully took her to her place of work to collect their weekly bribe. They forced her to open her joint, but Maureen refused because it was not yet the official opening time for wines & spirits businesses. That is when hell broke loose & they started beating her, seriously injuring her after banging her head against the wall. Maureen was taken for a CT scan, and that is where it was discovered that she had suffered serious injuries. She's also suffering from memory loss. This is why she has not been able to speak up to now and is currently communicating using sign language, as you have seen. The family is requesting IPOA to investigate the matter and ensure that Maureen gets justice, at least so that she can continue taking care of her children.

Bhanu Pratap Singh (IPS, Superintendent of Police, Khagaria) and his wife Pooja first met at an event in 2015. Despite opposition from their families, they had a love marriage on 16 January 2016. Pooja comes from a Brahmin family in Kolkata, while Bhanu belongs to a Jat family in Uttar Pradesh. Pooja left her home to marry him. After the marriage, she worked as a teacher at a private school in Bharatpur for about five years and stood by him during his struggles. Their daughter was born in 2020, around the same time Bhanu was selected for the IPS. Relations began to deteriorate after that. Pooja alleges that her husband has taken their six-year-old daughter away from her and is not allowing her to meet the child. After he became an IPS officer, she says pressure, mistreatment, and demands for divorce increased. At the IPS mess in Patna, she was locked in a room and kept under the watch of women constables so that she could not come out or speak to the media. When she went to the official residence in Khagaria, she was pushed out. Due to prolonged distress, her mental health deteriorated and she recently attempted suicide. Pooja says she does not want her husband to lose his job; she only wants her rights as a wife and the dignity of living with her daughter. Pooja travelled from Bihar to Bharatpur (her in-laws’ home). The gate was not opened, and her husband left with their daughter. She sat on a protest at the gate and later filed a complaint at Mathura Gate police station. Police treated it as a family dispute and did not take immediate action. People are demanding strict action and suspension of the officer. An audio clip from the husband’s side has circulated in which he says he does not want to end the relationship and wants to resolve the matter through dialogue. The case is also pending in court.
