If I remember correctly, hours later Dale Jr would run out of fuel in the final corner of the Coca Cola 600. Both Jr and Hildebrand were National Guard sponsored vehicles whose fates were intertwined on that day.

He also won the 2005 Indy 500 on the the 29th of May. My daughter was born that day and I thankfully got to watch the race while my wife did whatever she had to do.

I was in turn 4 and was telling myself "wow he looks high, the exit of the turn is going to be tight". Unfortunately it was too tight... Incredible memories
