A caller reported seeing Franchek with a gun during the argument, prompting police to visit his home. Franchek refused to discuss the incident, asked for officers’ names and badge numbers, and attempted to re-enter his home. Officers followed Franchek inside, fearing he might have or retrieve a gun, and arrested him after a struggle. Franchek’s son recorded the 40-minute incident, with the video gaining over 2 million views online. Franchek was charged with failure to stop, disorderly conduct, refusal to comply, and failure to disclose identity. Franchek and his son claim the officers illegally entered their home; Franchek filed a complaint against the arresting officer. The case was referred to Salt Lake City prosecutors for review, and the Park City Police are investigating the complaint.
