“You Got It” was recorded by Roy Orbison in 1988 and released in 1989 as the lead single from his posthumous album Mystery Girl. Written by Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne, and Tom Petty, the song became one of the biggest hits of Orbison's later career, reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the UK Singles Chart, and the Top 10 in several other countries. Its success marked an extraordinary comeback for an artist whose commercial peak had come more than two decades earlier. By 1988, Roy Orbison had become a member of the Traveling Wilburys, alongside George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan, a collaboration that helped revive his career and inspired the creative direction of Mystery Girl. Featuring Tom Petty on bass and backing vocals and Jeff Lynne's distinctive production style, “You Got It” showcased a brighter, more upbeat sound than many of Orbison's classic heartbreak ballads. Tragically, Orbison died of a heart attack in December 1988, just weeks before the song's release, meaning he never witnessed the remarkable success of his final major comeback...

What a day- At the Toy Story 5 premiere my son-in-law, Divighn (who sang on The Voice) said to me “I’m going to send you an early birthday present”. He knew I was fascinated by the dude Roy Orbison. He just sent me his studio cover version of “You Got It” by Roy Orbison. He was singing it, thinking about my daughter. What a talent he is. Turn up the volume and enjoy. #Divighn

In Blue Velvet, David Lynch’s way of using the song In Dreams initially mortified Roy Orbison. Years later, he admitted he came to love it, saying Lynch’s approach gave the song “this otherworldly quality” that made his music feel timeless.

Bono and The Edge wrote “She’s a Mystery to Me” for Roy Orbison. The song was recorded for Orbison’s 1989 album Mystery Girl, which was released posthumously. Bono woke up with the melody in his head during The Joshua Tree Tour in 1987, initially thinking it was an Orbison song. He later played it for Orbison backstage at a U2 concert in Wembley Arena, and they collaborated to complete it. The song is filled with some of Bono’s finest Biblical imagery, such as “Am I left to burn, and burn eternally?” 🎥: Rare live performance under the Brooklyn Bridge, 2005

In 1993, Michael Jackson injured his ankle just days before the Soul Train Music Awards, but instead of canceling, he still took the stage and performed while seated. Even injured, he was determined to give his fans a performance they would remember. That’s true dedication! ❤️👏

An Iranian plays the song "King of Hearts" on the accordion in the street. It is an old Iranian song from before the time of the ayatollahs, and his performance is a longing for the good old days that are yet to come.🇮🇷
