17 years ago today, Apple released the Magic Mouse.

Two weeks before the Magic Mouse launched, Apple lost the name of its old mouse. Apple had licensed "Mighty Mouse" from CBS, which owned the cartoon, but Man & Machine, a small Maryland company, had been selling washable hospital mice under that name since 2004 and sued. It won the trademark on October 6, 2009, so on launch day Apple quietly renamed the old one Apple Mouse.
