Connecticut Senator Ryan Fazio exposes their government exempted large developers from following Historic or Single Family zoning laws “Our state government gave to us anti-local control state mandates 830G — State housing mandate that allows large developers to totally ignore local planning and zoning rules and decisions as long as they build 30% of the units in their development as deed restricted housing. That means that any developer can go into any historic or single family zoned neighborhood and build 100 units are more on a single plot. That's not conjecture. It's reality for many neighborhoods across Connecticut, where developers have built over 50 or 100 units in small neighborhoods without local zoning approval, anddevelopers on a large scale are using it more and more.”

Our 3rd and last camp of the trip was held at Block Arena on base at Pearl Harbor. Another 75 military kids took part in our hoops camp. Marcus had a blast and so did the coaches and players!

In 2025, the City of San Diego spent $7M to clear tent encampments. However, since the city rarely issues citations or makes arrests for violations, there is little accountability for violating the law so encampments come right back - often within hours of being cleared. The result is that some city blocks were cleared over 100 times last year. The sad reality is that, according to the State of California’s 2023 study on homelessness, most of the chronically homeless are suffering from addiction. Without meaningful consequences for their actions, it’s unlikely they’ll ever get help on their own. Allowing tent encampments is not compassionate to those living on the streets and it’s not fair to the rest of the general public who deserve clean and safe public spaces.

Did you know Oklahoma City has its own Skid Row? The city is concentrating all the homeless encampments into one of the city’s poorest, most vulnerable neighborhoods near Virginia Avenue …..right where the infamous Mulligan Flats once stood. A place long known for grinding poverty, flooding, and hardship. This is blocks away from where 85-year-old Ina Balch was tied up, raped and murdered in her home by a homeless vagrant who broke in and then struck another woman’s home weeks later. Poor families & kids already struggling now face encampments full of homeless druggies, vagrants, and criminals piled on top. I have driven by this place and seen men without their pants on cussing people out at stop signs for no reason…one was mooning every car that stopped at the light. Imagine having your kids in your car seeing that? Let alone having to walk to school there. OKC leaders dont care about these voters or these communities & their daily battles.

#BREAKING: Kenmore City Council votes 6-1 to block controversial Plymouth Housing project(Plymouth Housing) from coming into downtown. Angry residents claimed it was pitched as affordable housing for veterans and senior citizens. But then it got switched to housing for the chronically homeless and drug addicted individuals. Bottom line, Kenmore is saying "housing first" is a failure and the "low barrier" free for all drug culture will not be tolerated. This could set a precedent for other King County cities facing similar proposals from other housing providers. Numerous people said, "We don't want to become the next Seattle." FINAL VOTE: Nigel Herbig-No David Baker-No Angela Kugler-No Joe Marshall-No Melanie O'Cain-No Debra Srebnik-No Corina Pfeil-Yes The other part of the story, this council meeting went nearly eighty hours and ended at 3am on Tuesday.
