$180/night hotel in China

I’m not saying it’s cheap btw It’s a Marriot so I assume 50% of the price is just for the brand, but that was the only hotel in this area.

Mate, they screwed you. I've booked similar hotels in China for less tha $50. Australian dollars... 😁

It’s a Marriot so I think i paid a big chunk just for the brand . Ur right tho, it could have been way cheaper with a local resort brand!

China to me is like an amusement park, I love the food and I love the people. Enjoy your trip, I just spent a month there travelling with trains, next trip will be in the countryside, small towns.

Yes same we want to get lost here it’s so nice!

This was my hotel in China for $90 a night a few weeks ago. Breakfast included.

All the 5 hotels I stayed at in china have been around $40 in night. 2 in Shenzhen, 2 in Tianjin, and 1 in Hangzhou. You can use the Trips mini app within Alipay to find steal deals as well as book bullet trains

I’ve come to the same conclusion. And by the way, the hotel that impressed me most in China is Lohkah, in the city of Xiamen. I could write at length about why this hotel is fabulous (geometry, materials, light…), but I’ll let these 4 photos speak for themselves. For the price, the quality is exceptional.

actually, it's really not cheap, Marc. In real life, our usual travel expenses are only around 500-600 RMB

In Asia I found many hotels like this one where the more you pay, the more glass they put in the bathroom so your partner can watch you poop. I don't understand it.

What’s wrong with that? :)

That’s too expensive. And btw, nothing lowers the class of a hotel more than a transparent wall between the bed room and the toilet.

My wife and I love it because we can spend even more time together

@gear_web 😂

@marclou That’s fair

What you get in Italy 200€ per night 🤷♂️

Are you in CBD because the price still look expensive to someone who lived in China for 10+ years

I’m close to Shanghai and it’s a Marriot so I guess I paid extra for the brand?

Ah if you're living in Marriot, I totally get it! Yes those brand hotels usually cost more

How are you dealing with the iron curtain internet wise? I had massive issues and tried a bunch of vpns. China is top tier for me also, I've also had some of my best stays ever in Beijing and Chongqing. Beautiful rooms and great service!

Depending on where you are, you grossly overpaid. This looks like a 400-600RMB room.

what shower develops smoke btw?

Man, this is insane. In Lisbon, you'll get a shitty Airbnb where the fridge doesn't work for this price 🥲

I am going there next week, should I use Booking, Agoda, Trip etc or are there better locals alternatives ?

$180/night in China? that room better come with breakfast, dinner, and a lifetime supply of dumplings. 🤣

Shower for two ok marc I see you

Whoa, looks really great the the price isn't expensive when you compare to some in France 😮

I though China was super expensive?

I am sure you can find much better places in China if you have that budget.

@levelsio Super nice. It’s not in Shanghai, is it? Looks too green for that huge city

please verify this. its sea facing. best for introvert indies

It’s not that cheap for the quality for Asian I’d say

Good hotel, price may be on the expensive side for China but it's still high value.

i think thats expensive for what it is, given the fact thats China. Still this in europe would be more expensive

How are people saying this is too expensive? If you want to have a room like that in Portugal you won't pay less than 300$

i should give up my London rent and instead live in a Chinese hotel

$180/night for that setup is genuinely wild, feels like the value in china rn is unmatched compared to most places
