Yeah, that was was the cactus display at the Horteculture Building of the worlds fair (picture 1). In the following images you can see the construction of the steel frame for that building, complete with the diagonal wood supports that the plaster “staff” was then attached to.

Other than the images of this book - is there any other proof that these buildings existed? Could the images have been created with photoshop or Ai and then “published as truth” to sell books and the conspiracies just drive more traffic and sales??

Illinois does have a native cactus called the Prickly Pear cactus though they do not look like that kind.
