The first year the SEC Tournament went to six teams, and State had to sweep the final weekend to get in. State was the 6 seed playing the 1 seed in their opener but somehow the home team and got the walkoff. That was the last year the playoffs winner was declared SEC Champion. Georgia was so miffed the SEC changed it the next year and split the regular season championship and the tournament. There’s a Wikipedia page that declares Georgia SEC Champion, but that’s not correct. There was only one, MSU. And if I recall correctly, Liliquist beat every SEC team in his career except State.

I was at that game!!

@DavidMcMahon711 If I remember correctly, Hurst was playing with a bum hamstring too?

@DavidMcMahon711 Yes, I noticed that he limped home during one of the games. He was banged up.

I went to this tournament! Great times!

Indeed. I love watching old footage.

Are both teams wearing white?

Yes, unless UGA is wearing a really light gray that the camera isn't picking up on. It was the SEC tournament.

This is just fantastic. So many studs mentioned.

I listened to the final game of that tourney outside of my home at Loyd Star school. Scared to go inside as it might change our luck.

I'm superstitious about stuff like that, too.
