Russia and Belarus have started joint military exercises on the combat use of nuclear weapons on May 19 through May 21. 64,000 troops will participate in the exercises. Russia's Strategic Missile Forces, the Northern and Pacific Fleets, long-range aviation, and some forces from the Leningrad and Central Military Districts are involved. Vladimir Putin warned that Russia would seize British and other European vessels in response to UK and EU actions against Moscow’s “shadow fleet” of oil tankers. Speaking during Pacific naval exercises, he called the Western seizures “piracy and robbery.” Russia’s Pacific Fleet commander said forces are prepared to board and detain ships from “unfriendly” states, including British commercial vessels spotted in Russian waters.

The Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command recently dispatched a naval task group headed by Type-055 guided-missile destroyer #Zunyi (Hull 107) to conduct training exercises in the waters east of the Philippine Luzon Island. The training exercises focused on live-fire drills, air-sea coordination, rapid maneuver, and replenishment at sea, aiming to test the troops’ joint operations capabilities. The training exercises are necessary operations carried out in response to the current regional situation, and are fully in compliance with international law and practice. The Forum will bring together around 70 participants from EU institutions and Member States, Indo-Pacific countries and regional organisations from across the east coast of Africa to the Pacific island states.
