During the search on Feb 18, investigators uncovered two sets of human remains in an area of wooded land between Oswalt Road, Pike Road and Long Hollow Road, north of where the vehicle associated with the case was found in 2013. United States Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Loring E. Lord, who was killed during World War II and was reported Missing in Action (MIA) for almost 80 years, is finally home. Staff Sgt. In 2015, ISIS seized a commercial and residential building in the town of Abu Hamam in Deir ez-Zor and turned it into a security prison, which it used to detain and torture members of the Shaitat clan. Dozens of detainees disappeared in the prison. This was part of the massacre committed by ISIS against the clan, which resulted in more than 814 deaths and hundreds of missing persons who were buried in mass graves. ‘The ISIS Prisons Museum documented the prison through audio testimonies of former detainees, along with an architectural and forensic analysis of the building and a 3D reconstruction to provide a deeper understanding of the violations committed inside.

Bodies continue to arrive at the cemetery, in south Tehran, despite a ceasefire still officially in place during the ongoing war between Iran and the US. The exact number of military personnel and civilians killed since the outbreak of the war remains unclear.

8-year-old Nver Ghazaryan and 10-year-old Mikael Ghazaryan, who were killed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan in the Sarnaghbyur village of Nagorno Karabakh, were buried in the cemetery of the city of Masis. The remains were handed over during a ceremony at the Yazidi Genocide Memorial site in Solagh, Sinjar after having been found in secret mass graves. This was the 8th batch of remains returned since 2021, bringing the total number of reinterred Yazidi victims to 318. The victims included 4 women and 18 men, primarily from villages such as Kocho, Tel Uzair, Qini, Solagh, Hamdan, and Hardan. 🦚
